This document describes product changes in COSMOSDesignSTAR™ 2007.
You can install COSMOSDesignSTAR 2007 and COSMOSDesignSTAR 2006 on the same machine.
COSMOSDesignSTAR 2007 comes with many enhancements. Refer to the What's New section in the Online Help for details.
To ensure successful installation and optimum performance, verify that your system complies with the requirements specified in: http://dl-ak.solidworks.com/nonsecure/cosmos/DS/2007/SP0/System_Requirements/English/SystemRequirements.htm.
COSMOSDesignSTAR 2007 does not support the Microsoft® Windows® 2000 operating system. Windows 2000 users are advised to upgrade to an operating system recommended in: http://dl-ak.solidworks.com/nonsecure/cosmos/DS/2007/SP0/System_Requirements/English/SystemRequirements.htm.

English, French, German, and Japanese
The 32-bit version of COSMOSDesignSTAR is supported for use on 64-bit systems.
· Models with mixed solids and surfaces from Solid Edge do not transfer to COSMOSDesignSTAR 2007.
· Updating geometry does not work properly when you remove or add components in Inventor or Solid Edge.
· Pure surface models cannot be opened with associativity. Surface models from Inventor that are saved as IGES or SAT files can be opened in COSMOSDesignSTAR 2007.
· Updating geometry does not work properly for SolidEdge and Inventor documents with sub-assemblies or components of multiple instances. You can modify the geometry in the CAD system, save the file, and open it again in COSMOSDesignSTAR.
· A Catia file cannot be opened when Japanese characters are used in the installation folder name, or in the path or name of the file to be opened.
· When using associativity, it is a good practice to check analysis features after updating geometry. Some geometry changes may result in applying analysis features to un-intended entities.
· Working with COSMOSDesignSTAR 4.5 models:
o COSMOSDesignSTAR 2007 is the last release to support opening COSMOSDesignSTAR 4.5 models.
o Sketches and split lines (imprints) from COSMOSDesignSTAR 4.5 are not transferred.
o Reference points do not transfer from COSMOSDesignSTAR 4.5. Use the On Spherical Face option in the Restraints PropertyManager to apply restraints to spherical faces.
o When opening more than one COSMOSDesignSTAR 4.5 file in a session, reference geometry entities with the same name do not transfer properly and the related features appear invalidated. To avoid the problem, exit the application before opening a second COSMOSDesignSTAR 4.5 file.
o When opening a model with transient thermal study that has a thermostat, you need to edit heat flux and heat power features with thermostat to select the Thermostat checkbox before running the study.
